What Kind of Friends do You Have?

I guess this time of the year brings back remembrances of old friends and what they mean to us. Just recently in my personal devotions and sermons from our Pastor I am reminded of what kind of friends I should have. Thus I am sharing some of these thoughts, with you!!!
*************************************************************************************
What Kind of Company Do You Keep?
(Unequal Yoke)
I Corinthians 15:33
"Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners."

In this text God is telling us not to be lead astray by the company or friends that we have. We must not deceive ourselves into thinking something good or beneficial can come from wicked relationships. God wants us to have good friends!

An unequal yoke is an unbalanced relationship! There is truth in the old maxim, "A man is known by the company he keeps." Jesus disciples were known by the company they kept, they were known as "Jesus Disciples." Companions and friendships are important in our daily lives.
Even our Lord chose twelve men to be his follower’s, providing Him with companionship and support, on occasion.

We need friends, and when we stop and consider those with whom we associate, surely we can see the impact they have on our life. Our friends help to formulate our character and influence us in the various circumstances we face. Whether we will admit it or not, the type of people who surround us can have a tremendous impact on the kind of person we are.

Therefore, we need to be very careful of the people we choose to be our friends!
Psalm 119:63 tells us we need to have friends that fear the Lord!

"I am a companion of all them that fear thee, and of them that keep thy precepts."

Who has the greatest impact on your thoughts and actions? Take care when it comes to the company you keep!

What a blessing good friends are to us daily!!

"If My People"

II Chronicles 7:14

"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sins, and will heal their land."
What an amazing verse!
Every Sunday our Pastor writes a message on the back of the Bulletin called "From My Heart".
Yesterday's message was called 'Prayer of National Repentance'.
It reads as follows:
" Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask Your forgiveness and to seek Your direction and guidance. We know Your Word says, "Woe to those who call evil good", but that is exactly what we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values. We confess that,
We have worshipped other gods and called it multiculturalism;
We have endorsed perversion and called it alternative lifestyle;
We have exploited the poor and called it lottery;
We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare;
We have killed our unborn and called it choice;
WE have shot abortionist and called it justifiable;
We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self-esteem;
We have abused power and called it politics;
We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it ambition;
We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and have called it freedom of expression;
WE have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment.
Search us, Oh God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from every sin and set us free!
(What a wonderful prayer offered by Rev. Joe Wright at the new session of the Kansas Senate, January 1996.)
Oh, how much more do we need to lift up our Nation today!
Let's get on our knees and ask God to do a mighty miricle in our Nation!!!
"If My People"

"Happy Birthday, Luke Weaver"

Happy Birthday to a very special young man! Luke is our first grandson! His two sister had prayed from the time they knew that their mother was going to have a new baby, until the time he was born, for a baby brother! We were at Aunt Kathy's having breakfast when we got the call that their prayers had been answered! Luke Elroy Weaver (named after Great-Grandpa Weaver ) was born on June 21, 2003, early in the morning! We could hardly finish our breakfast, we were so excited to get to the hospital to see him! Luke is now 7 and he is truly the brother they wanted!!! He is a great helper and loves his sister's very much! He's Grandpa pal! And the only Boy in the family! God has blessed the Jon Weaver family for giving them Luke!
As Grandparents of Luke, we are very proud of him, too! He loves the Lord and sings to his glory!! Have a great day Luke! Always put Jesus first and he will take care of all the rest!!

"The Word"

Read The Bible
Psalm 119:105
"Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path."
(I was so excited when I read this from my devotional the other morning and I just wanted to share it with you! Enjoy!)

The Bible is the best- selling book in the world, but most have never read it. Many religious people, and not just Christians, have at least one Bible in their home, but rarely read it. They may even go to church but do not take their Bible with them. Many Christians have never read the entire Bible from cover to cover, even though they have been saved for years! One of our founding fathers once stated,: "It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and the Bible." (George Washington) I believe the Bible is the best gift God has ever given to man! The Savior of the world communicates to us through the written pages of the Bible!!
The Bible is the living Word of God, not an invention of man. (Hebrews 4:12) Because it is the Word of God, it is absolute truth and will never lead us astray. (John 17:17) It will guide us in our walk of life and holds the answers to all life’s questions. God, who is the author, is Himself the Answer! It is so powerful that it can break the hardest heart and burn away the worthless chaff. As the "the sword of the spirit" (Ephesians 6:17), it is the believers defense against temptation. "Lord,....
Thou hast the words of eternal life. And we believe and are sure that Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God." (John 6:68-69)

Are you reading God’s life-giving Word?

She loves the Lord and has been Saved and Baptized! She loves to play the Violin and is getting very good at it!! She is very sensitive and that is a blessing in that she cares about others!! Well, I can say so much more but just want her to know she is a very special granddaughter and we love her very much!

"Cure of Anxiety"

Matthew 6: 26 & 33
"Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?"

"But seek ye first the kingdom of , and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."

"Sin of Carnality"

Sin of Carnality
(Amos 6:1-14)
Responsibility is linked to privilege. Israel’s redemption from the land of bondage gave them a new Master. Now they belonged to God and they soon learned that they could not lust after that which the Lord had withheld or forbidden and still expect to enjoy His hand of blessing on them. The Lord asked them "Can two walk together, except they be agreed?" (Titus 3:3) This refers to the fact that believers must walk in obedience to the light before they can walk in fellowship with the God of all light! Sin disrupts communion with the Lord. It must be confessed! (I John 1:9)
Sin always keeps us from the center of God’s blessing and usefulness for Him.
The sin of self-reliance is the foe of the spirit of grace!
God’s people felt secure a and self- satisfied in the strongholds of Samaria when they should
have been worshiping and serving God in Jerusalem as prescribed in God’s Law! The idea that prosperity and peace could be found outside the church, is nothing but rebellion and lies lead by Satan! The Lord pronounces "Woe" upon any effort to replace His plan with the designs of man!
Like Israel, we cannot escape God’s chastening hand. Though filled with proud self-confidence, they would soon suffer God’s chastisement.
We today cannot continue to remain in sin and expect to get away with it!

"To Him give all the prophets witness, that through His name who-soever believeth in Him shall receive remission of sins."
Acts 10:43

"Does God Hate?'

Many believers today emphasize the wonderful truth of God's love, and rightly so, but at the same time they seem to forget the fact the God also hates that which is evil! In our world today we are seeing more evil than ever before. God's word mentions those evil things and we know that he hates them! God is a God of love, but he will not put up with the evil that is in our world today! Someday he will become the Judge! All evil must be punished, if not now, then we know for sure later. The Bible says that every knee will one day bow before the Lord.

Proverbs 6:16-19 Tells us of the evil things the Lord hates!

#1 A Proud Look

#2 A Lying Tongue

#3 Hands that shed innocent blood (Murder)

#4 A Heart that devises wicked imaginations (wicked thoughts and plans)

#5 Feet that are swift in running to mischief (evil)

#6 A False Witness who Speaks lies (even under oath)

#7 He that soweth Discord among brethren (gossip)

Proverbs 6:20 "My son, keep thy father's commandments, and forsake not the law of thy mother."

So the simple question is, will you bow in judgement or will you bow in adoration to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords?

No, it is not right to hate one another, but I can find many scriptures, like the one above, that tells us we MUST hate evil!!

Have a great day and keep up the good fight!

"What Happened to Your Sins?"

What Happened To My Sins?

People will do just about anything to get rid of their sins. They will pay whatever price is stated and say all kinds of repetitious prayers. But in the end, their sins remain because they do not go to Jesus Himself for the forgiveness of their sins. But, when you become a child of God, what does the Lord do with your sins?

#1 Your sins are forgiven-I John 1:9
#2 Your sins are remitted-Acts 10:34
#3 Your sins are nailed to the cross Col. 2:13-14
#4 Your sins are blotted out-Isa 44:22
#5 Your sins are cast behind Gods back-Isa 38:17
#6 Your sins are cast into the depths of the sea-Micah 7:19
#7 Your sins are removed to a limitless extent-Psa. 103:12
#8 Your sins are forgotten-Isa. 43:25 & Acts10:17

Because of God’s incredible mercy and infinite love, he chooses to forgive and forget those sins that have been confessed!!!

Have you enjoyed this kind of forgiveness?

"Sunset on 2009"

Happy New Year to all our family and friends!! The sun has set on 2009 and I have to ask myself what have I accomplished for Him? If the Lord tarries in 2010 I want it to be more about Him and Less about me!!

I was reminded of this as our Pastor preached a sermon on Wednesday night about the three things we are very guilty of, as Christians.

#1. We are guilty of such little faith in Him. (If we had faith we wouldn't be disobedient!)

#2. We are guilty of such little love for Him. (We measure this love by: Our Conversation, Our Giving and Our Soul winning)

#3 We are guilty of such little time with Him. (Let's get serious about our Bible and Prayer time!)
So lets have a little more faith, a little more love and then let's all spend a little more time in his Word and a little more time on our Knees! If our Country ever needed our prayers, it is now!
Let's also pray for those prodigals who have gone astray, that they will come back to Him, and let's pray one for another!!
2Timothy 2:15 "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."
Joy In Jesus!
